The cabin, thank goodness, was cooled, but outside it was sunny, hot, and void of trespassers, so we felt that clothes were not necessary.
It was such a strange and wonderful experience. We set out to explore wearing our boots, some bug spray, and nothing else.
We walked through a pasture of gentle cows, and hiked the trails which wound up and down the rolling hills. We came upon a beautiful pond and cooled off with a swim. It was so refreshing to dry off without a towel or a wet swimsuit; just the breeze and the sun.
Every so often, I expected to see a random person around the next bend, but we were completely alone.
We came upon a line of boulders, hiding what lay ahead. We carefully climbed to the top and stood in awe. We were at the edge of a cliff and could see for miles in every direction. Below us, a stream trickled through green pastures speckled with wild flowers stretching to the horizon. The sky began to change from brilliant blue to streaks of orange and magenta. A deer family pranced across the fields, disappearing between two hills as a large bird flew in the opposite direction.
We sat down atop those huge rocks warmed by the sinking sun and enjoyed our own private showing of “Nature’s Splendor”.
I’ve never known anyone else to spend a weekend outside in the nude. It was, however, an incredibly sensational experience. It’s almost as if nature exposed herself to us as we were, as well, in our natural state.
